A handful of months ago The Watch Lounge acquired a Push invitation?to your initially "Watchmaker's Ball". Our 1st reaction was a little something alongside the traces of "never heard about it, seems like it would be tedious regardless of what palace it is at" So in the event the laptop or computer asked 'Do you wish to delete this email?' the answer was a fast and decisive 'yes!'
Pretty a while later on nonetheless, for the duration of a person of my recurrent and helpful chats with the notorious Chronopassion Boutique owner Laurent Picciotto, he permit slip that he experienced an exceedingly particular shock he was making ready with the Ball. Definitely? Hmm, now it is really starting to get attention-grabbing.
Again on the place of work spy camera watch , I put in the subsequent hour together with the co-founder of Ladoire Geneve; Lionel Ladoire for getting some content to get a forthcoming article. He finished the conversation indicating that we should always also be sure to come to the Ball as he far too was preparing anything exclusive for it.
Okay men, I get it: Laurent plays guitar, and Lionel is usually a former expert drummer. Gotcha. Anyway, nonetheless not planning to occur, this can be a hectic week, one from the last ahead of the summer break.

The same day and another hour later on, again in front of my PC: "You've got mail!". Those who follow me on Twitter already know I am becoming increasingly frustrated while using the number of spam emails I receive for jewels, clothes, bags, luxury hotels, cars, private jets, and so on (Editor's note: thanks to Olivier's "notoriety" I much too have become the victim of these spam emails!). But this a person is from the lovely Ophlie from the no less lovely PR agency Sparkle, powered 24H per day by Surya Hill. "Hey Olivier, givensale.com we are counting on you for that very first Watchmaking Ball!" big bang hublot . Hmm, I'm beginning to sway. Just give me a few hours to check a handful of things, will you? No, she won't: less than 3 hours after, Caroline, the other half of Sparkle's angels, sends me a second e-mail: "Hi Olivier, altimeter watches Ophlie experienced to leave, but she told me you think you'll arrive, right? Wow, it really is gonna be a great time! Good to see you!".
There comes a time when you have to simply succumb to your fate. There is no question truly that 4 people talking to you about the same event within 48 hours and without any prior consultation is actually a matter of fate so what's the use in fighting it? Hello, TGV? 1 ticket to Nyon, please!
Fun Is Our Motto
The Watchmakers Ball is built upon a paradox: its concept is so simple that no one ever thought about it in advance of. In less than 6 months, Sparkle's team were able to bring to fruition this incredibly simple idea for the pretty complex event that would gather together 200 people from across the watchmaking world without any agenda other than to have some fun. But would they arrive purely for the entertainment? They certainly did.

Just outside of Nyon, Surya Hill successfully gathered people from major brands like Bell & Ross, Roger Dubuis, Hautlence, Zenith, Corum, Audemars Piguet, and also independant watchmakers such as Ludovic Ballouard and Lionel Ladoire. We talked pretty much about anything and everything except watchmaking: the Vegas trip for Ludovic and Lionel, the upcoming trips for Max Busser to various parts of your globe, the performance in the Bol d'Or on the Leman final week, rolex replica watches etc.
The Watchmakers Ball All Star Band opened the night. On the left, Michel Jimenez, Head of R&D at F.P. Journe was joined by Laurent Picciotto, on the right, on the Les Paul Guitar. Previous qualified drummer Lionel Ladoire took on the duties of percussionist for the night, whilst mathematics professor Willy Viriot and tatto artist Seb rounded out the ensemble. The Rolling Stones' "Harlem Shuffle" gave the first spark on the playlist, though Bowie's "Let's Dance" got everybody up and moving, as well as a couple of more tunes from this unlikely band (which had only managed 3 rehearsals prior to their maiden performance!).

See You Up coming Year
After a short auction break for that benefit of Vaccines for Life (thanks dear Emma de Caunes for that introduction) it was time to party, and tuxedos and cocktail dresses could be seen literally flying over the dance-floor as people who experienced been making 7 digit deals the same morning permit their hair down.

The Final Word
The initial edition of an industry event is always a delicate affair. It can literally destroy your reputation within 3 hours, or make you the corner stone of a would-be major event of our world. For sure, Sparkle's event belongs well and truly in the second category. Well done to all involved and let's hope that future editions will continue to share the intimate and friendly atmosphere we experienced, because I tell you, that is an event that is here to stay.
A person thing is for absolutely sure though, up coming year I won't be waiting for 4 different signs from above right before indicating yes!
